Aftercare and cleaning of vinyl

These care notes are for printed vinyl graphics protected by a suitable overlaminate. Before cleaning, check the instructions for the film, ink, laminate and the surface beneath the graphic. Unlaminated prints and specialty finishes may need different care.

Before the first wash

Allow the installed graphic to bond for the period specified by the film manufacturer. Do not treat a general 24–48-hour waiting period as approval for immersion or every installation condition. Check edges and seams before cleaning.

Routine cleaning

  • Use a soft, non-abrasive, preferably lint-free cloth.
  • Use a mild soapy solution compatible with the finished graphic, then rinse away the residue.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners, abrasive tools and caustic cleaners.
  • Do not use high-pressure washers or steam cleaners under this general care procedure.

Stubborn marks and damaged edges

Do not apply isopropanol or another solvent to the whole graphic without checking compatibility. Ask for the recommended cleaner for the specific film and laminate, and test a small inconspicuous area first. Stop if the cleaner changes the print or finish.

If an edge lifts or the laminate is damaged, avoid scrubbing or directing water into that area. Photograph the issue and contact the installer or Graphictac product support with the material and installation details.
